An Update on the Upgrades Situation:
As of today (Aug. 26, 2000), RedRival is awaiting a supplier that can get them a certain, compatible RAID controller card (which is apparently either in high demand, or the manufacturer is just really slow).
They hope to have one in within 1 to 2 weeks, hopefully much sooner.
When they do have this card, an update will be posted letting you know. Also, at that time, they will begin full testing and actual implementation (which may take 1-3 days). After that, it should once again be smooth (ie. FAST!) sailing.
One more Update:
RedRival will soon be moving the current hardware to a system with more processing power, which should alleviate some speed problems (this is just a temporary patch until the real upgrades are done). This was marked to be done today, and probably still should. Let it be known that there may be some downtime at some point during the day (hopefully not more than a half an hour).

1. RedRival is now accepting Credit Card orders for Upgrade Packages (http://www.redrival.com/upgrades.shtml).
2. RedRival has all their new hardware and everything is setup. There is one piece, however, which was delayed during shipping and they're not sure when that will get to them. Updates will be posted on the situation. They are still looking to be completing all upgrades by the end of next week.

1. FTP is unavailable at the moment. This was a required action due to server performance in the last few weeks. RedRival's main pages, and member pages, were terribly hindered by the speed and faults of SSI/CGI during high load. For now, while FTP is offline, use the ZIP option in the File Manager (zip a file up to as large as 5mb in size, upload it, click on the "UNZIP" link in File Manager beside the file name and all your files in the zip will be un-archived to your directory). The ZIP file will automatically be deleted once the process is completed.
2. IPs are now displayed beside the username you are posting by in the support forums. This option was enabled via the Forum software due to supposed impersonations. This is by no means a fool-proof measure, but it is hoped that it will give confidence to forum frequentors to know that who they're talking to is who they say.
3. Specifically about upgrades... Upgrades should be performed soon. After this has been done, FTP will be resumed and everything should move along quite smoothly

RedRival is temporarily NO LONGER accepting new members. RedRival has grown tremendously in the past few months thanks to its members. And, in order to ensure top quality service, reliability and speed, they are now entering what they call, an "optimization" phase. During this time they will optimize the experience for the current members and upgrade and expand for when they reopen signups. Signups are planned to be reinstated after the upgrades. So, come back then to see the new and improved services, and to sign up for membership in the RedRival community!

RedRival will be performing upgrades soon. The upgrades will consist of hardware upgrades to the current system, as well as adding three new servers, extra storage, converting to a RAID5 setup, and a few other miscellaneous things.
And, although there's no bandwidth problem (just system overload), the upstream ISP will be doubling their bandwidth system width during the summer, at some point. So, no problems there, for a long time to come.
